Voters in the Reed Memorial Library District (the Town of Carmel which is not in the Mahopac School District) will go to the polls on Monday October 2, 2017 to elect two new trustees to three year terms for the Reed Memorial Library and vote on the following proposition:
Shall the sum of $275,170 be raised by annual levy of a tax upon the taxable real property within the Reed Memorial Library District for the purpose of funding the operating budget of the Reed Memorial Library?
Trustee candidates are:
Vickie Causa: Vickie has roots in Carmel dating back to the 1930’s, when her family discovered the beauty and uniqueness of Putnam County. After having spent childhood summers at Lake Carmel, she and her family moved to Carmel permanently in 1999. A global human resources executive by trade, Vickie is committed to helping keep Reed Memorial Library a vibrant educational and treasured asset in Putnam.
Carla Taylor: Carla grew up on the island of Jamaica and immigrated to the United States almost 30 years ago. After spending a few years in Brooklyn, a job transfer led to her family purchasing a home in Carmel sixteen years ago. Reed Memorial Library has been an integral part of her family’s life since her children participated in library programs as toddlers and preschoolers. She has been a member of the library board of trustees since 2014.
The referendum will be held at the Carmel Fire House from 12 noon to 8 pm on Monday October 2. Absentee ballots are available at the library and must be returned ore received by 5 pm on the date of the election. Absentee ballot applications and a sample of the office ballot are available here:
