RML Community Hub flyer with address 9 Church St. Carmel @ Gilead Presbyterian Church

Welcome to the RML Community Hub, our new location designed to give our community more space to gather, learn, and connect! Below you’ll find answers to common questions about what the Community Hub is, where to find it, and what services it offers.

What is the RML Community Hub?

First and most importantly: Reed Memorial Library is NOT moving!

Our main library and complete collection will remain right where they have always been—in our beloved, historic building at 1733 Route 6.

The new Community Hub is an expanded, dedicated meeting and programming space created to host more events, reduce waiting lists, and bring our community together.

  • Address: Gilead Presbyterian Church, 9 Church Street, Carmel Hamlet (just down the block from the Library!)
  • Opened to the Public: October 3, 2026

What are the hours for the Community Hub?

  • Currently the Hub is open to the Public when there are programs happening at the Hub.
  • In January a complete schedule of Hub + Café open hours will be released.

Parking and Accessibility

  • Parking: Yes! You can use the Gilead Church parking lot when visiting either the main Library building or the Community Hub.
  • Accessibility: Fully accessible. The Hub features an accessible ramp leading directly to the main entrance doors, as well as an accessible public restroom inside.

What You’ll Find at the Hub

While main book collections remain at our historic building, the Community Hub offers enhanced features and services:

  • Expanded Program Space: Multi-use rooms for popular events, workshops, and activities.
  • Fenced Garden Space: An outdoor garden area directly attached to the Library’s program rooms.
  • Hold Pick-Ups: Hold pickup options (by appointment—details coming soon).
  • Used Book Sales: Low-priced used books available for purchase inside the Café!

Programs & Activities

Expanding to the Community Hub allows us to take popular programs off waiting lists and welcome more community members than ever before!

What kind of programs can you expect?

  • Children’s Playgroups
  • Mahjong groups
  • Art classes
  • Book clubs
  • Gardening programs in partnership with Perception Horticulture
  • New offerings based on community feedback and suggestions

Note on Program Locations: Programs are now held across both locations! Please check our Online Calendar, follow us on Facebook and Instagram, check local flyers, or call us at (845) 225-2439 to confirm where a specific event is taking place.

Meeting Room Reservations

When not in use for Library programming, Community Hub meeting rooms will be available for community use.

  • Who can reserve? Non-profit organizations, parent groups, local Scout troops, community organizations, and government entities.
  • When to book? Online and phone reservations begin in January 2027.
  • Restrictions: Rooms are not available for private family events. Per library policy, commercial businesses, sales operations, and most political events are strictly prohibited.

The Jobs Café

The Jobs Café is a community non-profit program provided through a partnership between Reed Memorial Library, Carmel Central School District High School Students, ARC of Mid-Hudson, and the Friends of Reed Library.

  • What We Offer: Affordable beverages including hot and iced coffee, tea, hot chocolate, bottled water, prepackaged baked goods, used books, and Reed Library merchandise. (Service may launch initially with cold beverages only.)
  • Where the Proceeds Go: Every dollar earned above operating expenses goes directly back into supporting the Café and Library services for our community.
  • Opening Date: An official opening date for beverage service will be announced soon! High school students are currently helping us design and name the space, and we appreciate your patience as we prepare to launch.
